THE METROPOLIS STORY
Metropolis Art is the new face of Metropolis Gallery!
After 17 exciting years running an art gallery in Geelong we’ve moved online. While this simpler approach has helped broaden our lifestyle, our art interests and client services continue to be a focus. I look forward to introducing you to some exciting new artists and wonderful collections of art.
In 1993 we established our first gallery in the Otway Ranges at Forrest while I was working as a freelance illustrator and designer. After moving to Geelong in 2000, I took a position as sessional teacher in Drawing and Life Drawing at a local tertiary institute while establishing a gallery in central Geelong (2003), then expanding and relocating as Metropolis Gallery in 2008. Art Trailblazers!
At Metropolis Gallery we presented Collectors Shows of significant smaller works by important Australian artists and mounted surveys of the works of Kenneth Jack, Ludmilla Meilerts, Arthur Boyd and Jamie Boyd, Michael Leunig, Marco Luccio and Robert Ingpen. Metropolis Art will continue to provide a great opportunity to add some major names in Australian art to your walls and continue to feature exciting collections of work from local and national Artists, Artists’ Estates and Aboriginal Art Centres.
Art continues to be important and a constant inspiration.
